SARANTOS MATTHEOS
Sarantos has practiced law in Winnipeg for over 20 years. Between 1997 and 2010, he was a litigator at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP, which is one of Winnipeg’s largest and most respected law firms. During that time, he was involved in numerous complex cases and appeared as counsel at every level of court in Manitoba and at arbitrations, mediations and provincial inquests. Between 2010 and 2019, he was General Counsel of KGS Group, which is one of Canada’s fastest growing engineering firms. At KGS Group, Sarantos was responsible for risk management and negotiating contracts for major construction projects with different branches of government and large corporations. He continues to serve on KGS Group’s Board of Directors where he participates in the development and ongoing evaluation of KGS Group’s business plan and growth strategy.
Hockey has always been at the center of Sarantos’ life. He played minor and junior hockey in Winnipeg, coached for several years and has been a dedicated hockey parent to his three children. During that time, he has experienced practically every level of hockey in Canada including Timbits, AA and AAA hockey, the WHL, Canada’s Program of Excellence and the WHL and NHL Drafts. As a result of his family’s hockey journey, Sarantos has developed extensive knowledge about the amateur hockey system and is very familiar with the different paths available to players and the successes, trials and tribulations of high-level prospects and their families.
Sarantos is responsible for the legal and business affairs of Oates Sports and oversees our amateur program in Canada. He works very closely with Adam and the rest of the team on the structure and execution of our overall program and communicates regularly with our amateur players about their ongoing development.
DYLAN HAFICHUK
Growing up in rural Manitoba, Dylan played minor hockey and baseball for several years. At a relatively young age, he admitted to himself that he was never going to make it to the professional ranks as a player in either of those sports so he set his sights on having a business career in sports. Whether it was doing play-by-play over video games or writing hockey articles for English classes, he remained focussed on this goal during his school years. He continued to pursue this passion in university and in the spring of 2021, he completed a degree in Recreation Management and Community Development at the University of Manitoba (with multiple semesters on the Dean's Honour List). In his final year of that program, he was able to work with Oates Sports Group for several months as part of his supervised fieldwork experience during which time he helped with the development of the OSG Portal. Not long after graduating, Dylan accepted a position with Hockey Manitoba, where he was able to experience the promotion and development of Minor Hockey in Manitoba. When the opportunity came up to work with Oates Sports Group again, it was a very easy decision for him to return.
As the Client Services Coordinator of Oates Sports Group, Dylan plays an important role in many aspects of the client experience including managing the OSG Portal, assisting with the development of our on-ice schedule and handling all administration of client accounts including contracts and invoicing. He is thrilled to have finally achieved his goal of having a career in sports and is eager to assist our clients and their families.
